Hello, It may be just benign elevation but it needs to be followed. I would request heme evaluation but many times numbers need to be relegated every few weeks and make sure they go down. Hi, So we usually don’t separate parents from kids in those situations. Child has already been exposed before your test turned out to be positive. Do your best to wash hands and maybe wear a mask at home but at this point, separation from a child would not make any difference. Hi, I competent understand your worry. Many children have gained a lot of weight due to staying at home and decreased activity. Even if staying home you could make healthy meals and prep lab snacks. Protein such as eggs, peanut butter, cheese, tofu, meats should be in their daily diet, as well as many fresh fruits and vegetables. By avoiding sugary drinks such as juice, soda, power drinks will decrease daily caloric intake as well. Also, portion sizes are very important and not eating after 0700pm at night. They usually have very bad sore throat so treating the pain with Ibuprofen will help with appetite as well. How can I find out what allergies my newborn may have?
Hi, we typically don’t test newborns this early for allergies. We assume they may have milk protein allergy if they have eczema, fussiness with feeds and blood in stool. We usually test a little later about 6 months of age since they are requiring venous blood draw and it’s quite difficult at their age to obtain one at the laboratory.
