In 1979, Dr. Callejas graduated with his medical degree from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Honduras. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in internal medicine at Memorial Health in 1996.
Subsequent to his training, he attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Practicing general internal medicine, Dr. Callejas moved to Texas to join Oak Cliff Family Healthcare. For over 22 years, he managed a high volume practice with his three partners. He focused his practice on caring for highly complex patients, providing preventive care, as well as maintenance of chronic diseases with an emphasis on quality improvement. In 2017, he and his partners sold their practice to Wellmed and Dr. Callejas continued to work for Wellmed until he retired in March of 2019. On August 10th, 2020, he returned to work for Wellmed at the same office he retired from and continues to serve the community.
