In the early days of her academic career, Dr. Coutinho earned her medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine, which is the M.D. granting unit of the Biological Sciences Division of the University of Chicago. She then went on to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.
