Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Kathleen D. Coutinho, who serves patients in Terre Haute, Indiana. 

Being a caring and compassionate obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Coutinho is a part of Union Medical Group in Terre Haute, Indiana, as well as can be found on staff at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Union Medical Group is the largest multi-specialty provider group in the Wabash Valley and is an integral part of the Union Health system that also includes Union Hospital in Terre Haute and Union Hospital Clinton. It consists of over 130 providers in 20 specialties practicing at multiple locations throughout western Indiana and eastern Illinois. Terre Haute Regional Hospital is a 278-bed Level II Trauma Center. In the early days of her academic career, Dr. Coutinho earned her medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine, which is the M.D. granting unit of the Biological Sciences Division of the University of Chicago. She then went on to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. 

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.
