Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Hung Nguyen, who serves patients in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

A proven psychiatrist, Dr. Nguyen has devoted his life to the well-being of others. His innate sense of care and passion for helping people has guided his journey as a front-line worker, making a lasting impact on the lives of those he serves.

Throughout his academic career, the doctor embarked on his medical career at Spartan Health Sciences University in Saint Lucia, West Indies. His commitment to psychiatry led him to complete his residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey. Continuing his pursuit of excellence, he went on to a fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, where he was honored with the Clinical Scholar Award in Child and Adult Psychiatry.

Dr. Nguyen’s professional journey led him to Broward Health in Fort Lauderdale, where he contributed significantly to the Community Health Service. 

Holding membership status, he is an active member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the Association of LGBTQ+ Psychiatrists, and the Florida Psychiatric Society. 

Impacting the academic community, Dr. Nguyen serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, where he imparts his knowledge and expertise to the next generation of medical students. 

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.

As a testament to his success,he is the recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award and the Excellence in Clinical Teaching in Psychiatry award. Patients consistently praise his professionalism, calm demeanor, and compassion, with an impressive 99% of patients giving him a 5-star rating. In addition, he was nominated by his Broward colleagues and subsequently received the Exceptional People Impacting the Community (EPIC) Award from Mental Health America of Southeast Florida.

On a more personal note, Dr. Nguyen is fluent in both Vietnamese and English and embraces gratitude and mindfulness, understanding the profound impact of thoughts on reality.
