Named as one of New Jersey’s Favorite Kids Docs, Dr. Shevelev is passionate about child nutrition and development. She is in practice with Valley Pediatric Associates, PA with offices in Ho-Ho-Kus and Ramsey, New Jersey.
As Valley Pediatrics’ senior physician, she has been with the practice for 26 years. She loves practicing pediatrics while forming close bonds with the children and their families. “I feel blessed to be able to work in a wonderful practice that shares the same passion I have for providing the best health care possible. “
Following in her parents’ footsteps to become a physician, Dr. Shevelev earned her undergraduate and medical degrees in the USSR, where she graduated with honors in 1977. After coming to the United States, she served as Chief Resident at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where she was responsible for residents’ education and also cared for critically ill children in the pediatric ICU.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), she is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Trained in the latest medical advances for infants, children and adolescents, Dr. Shevelev has full admitting privileges at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.
When not at the office, Dr. Shevelev loves going to the theater, listening to music, reading, working out at the gym, and cooking. A mother to one adult son, she currently lives with her husband in Wyckoff, New Jersey. She speaks both English and Russian.
