She provides multidisciplinary treatment plans for a variety of mental health concerns to adults and teenagers at North Shore TMS in Huntington, New York, where she serves as Medical Director.

North Shore TMS provides personalized mental health care to patients of all ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. Serving adolescents and adults, it offers innovative, evidence-based treatment options that address the root cause of psychiatric disorders to the Huntington, New York, community.

With extensive experience treating children, adolescents, and adults using innovative, evidence-based therapies, Dr. Carlsen was one of the first psychiatrists to make transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy available on Long Island, and she continues to expand her knowledge and skills to provide personalized solutions for a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, she earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, and served as Chief Resident at Brown University during her fellowship in adult psychiatry. 

Subsequently, Dr. Carlsen went on to complete fellowship training in pediatric and adolescent psychiatry at Brown University’s Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. During her fellowship, she received the honor of a peer service award. She also has advanced training in functional medicine and integrative psychiatry. She completed training from the Institute of Functional Medicine and a fellowship in integrative psychiatry through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI).

Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry and child & adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Among her other roles, Dr. Carlsen serves as voluntary faculty with the Northwell Health System in New York, teaching in the departments of psychiatry and pediatrics.
