Dr. Porter is a reputable ophthalmologist who welcomes patients at his private practice, Cataract and Eye Care Center, located in Dickson, Tennessee. The practice focuses on cataract surgery, refractive surgery and external disease. 

Dr. Porter is also the Medical Director of Cool Springs Surgical Associates in Franklin, Tennessee. Over the years, he has performed over 27,000 cataract surgeries and more than 12,000 LASIK procedures. In 1998, Dr. Porter received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, OH. He proceeded to complete a residency in ophthalmology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee (1999 – 2002) and served as Chief Resident. A Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the doctor is licensed to practice in the states of Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

Following his training, Dr. Porter attained board certification in ophthalmology through the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The American Board of Ophthalmology is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America. Founded in 1916, the ABO was the first American Board established to certify medical specialists.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the eye. An ophthalmologist is a physician who specializes in ophthalmology. The credentials include a degree in medicine, followed by additional four to five years of residency training in ophthalmology. 

Dr. Porter’s hospital affiliations include T. J. Samson Community Hospital (Glasgow, KY), TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital (Bowling Green, KY), Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (Nashville, TN), and TriStar Horizon Medical Center (Dickson, TN). Kind, caring and thorough, Dr. Porter dedicates his spare time to hiking, traveling, hiking, and being with his children and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
