The Aspire Fertility team has been helping families-to-be in Texas and Georgia for over 30 years. Dr. Grunert earned his undergraduate degree at Rice University, a private research university in Houston. He then attended Baylor College of Medicine where he earned his medical degree. Baylor College is a premier health and sciences university with access to a diversity of resources and educators that can only be found in the Texas Medical Center which is the world’s largest medical complex.
He then continued his education and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Naval Regional Medical Center, a military command center, where he also completed his fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Grunert also gained a Fellowship at the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Grunert is board certified by The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics.
Dr. Grunert established the first IVF program at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas in the 1980s, which later became the Houston Fertility Specialists. He was a pioneer in the field of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, reproductive genetics and embryology. He is a longstanding supporter of the LGBTQ community and provides same-sex and transgender couples with options including IVF with donor sperm, egg donation and gestational carrier services.
Dr. Grunert is an accomplished clinical researcher and author of a multitude of articles and chapters for professional medical publications. His topics of research have included fertility drugs, pelvic disorders, endometriosis, tubal reversals, miscarriage, and reproductive surgery. He is also the recipient of numerous awards and accolades and has been named a William Marsh Rice Scholar, Michael E. DeBakey Scholar, and National Science Foundation Fellow. In addition, he received a US Navy Humanitarian Service Award and has been selected as a Texas Top Doctor. When he is not working, he enjoys hiking, skiing, traveling and exploring local wineries and unique restaurants with his wife Trudye.
