With a broad educational background, Dr. Sun graduated with her Medical Degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine. She then went on to perform her residency in surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, followed by her fellowship in vascular surgery at Rutgers Health/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

A leader in her field, Dr. Sun is board certified in both general surgery and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Among her professional affiliations, Dr. Sun is an active member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery.
