Dr. Christine Gerber is an experienced and skilled OB-GYN with a private practice in Pawley Island. She and her partner, Dr. Caroline Millan, opened Island Health Care to provide comprehensive gynecology healthcare for all stages of a woman’s life.
Board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Gerber graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Youngstown State University. She earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, a private college in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her internship and residency at Lankenau Medical Center, a 331-bed tertiary care, teaching hospital and research institute in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Gerber is a member of the South Carolina Birth Outcomes Initiative of the SC Department of Health & Human Services, a team member that won “Baby Friendly” accreditation for Waccamaw and Georgetown Hospitals, and a member of the team that earned Childbirth Center of Excellence designation for Waccamaw Community Hospital, the first hospital in the state to obtain this distinction.
Dr. Gerber treats a wide range of symptoms and /or conditions including annual gynecological exams, preventive screenings, excessive bleeding, abnormal Pap Smear results, contraception counseling, Endometriosis, Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), pelvic prolapse, pre-and post-menopausal symptoms, ovarian cysts and sexual dysfunction.
In addition to providing full gynecological care, Dr. Gerber also offers esthetic treatment for her patients including non-invasive body treatments fillers and botox. She is affiliated with Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital, a 167 bed facility for patients in Georgetown, Horry and surrounding counties.
The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, she received the Lewis Blackman Patient Safety Award and was named Top Obstetrician & Gynecologist by the South Strand News. She is on the Healthgrades Honor Roll and a member of the International Association of Healthcare Professionals.
Dr. Gerber is clearly deeply committed to her community as evidenced by her volunteer work with the Georgetown County March of Dimes and a sponsor of the Tidelands Health Foundation Breast Cancer Walk and Mother’s Milk Bank of South Carolina. In addition to her local work, she has taken mission trips to Guatemala Mayan Indian villages to help the underserved. Outside of work, Dr. Gerber’s hobbies and interests are watersports, going to the beach, reading, and knitting.
