Following this, he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. To further hone his expertise, Dr. Axe completed an orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious American Sports Medicine Institute with Dr. James Andrews and followed with a second fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at Harvard. His second fellowship included several months abroad studying shoulder surgery with experts in Europe.

He is also an active member of the Medical Society of Delaware, the American Association of Orthopaedic Medicine, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, where he collaborates with peers to advance the field of orthopaedics and improve patient outcomes.
