Get to know Rheumatologist Dr. Brian Bowers, who serves patients in Rapid City, South Dakota.

A knowledgeable rheumatologist, Dr. Bowers sees patients at his private practice in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Academically, he graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001. He then went on to complete his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in geriatric medicine at SUNY Stony Brook University Hospital in 2004 and 2005, respectively. Finally, he completed an additional fellowship in rheumatology at the same educational venue in 2008.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in rheumatology and internal medicine through the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, which is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults.

Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who have undergone formal training in rheumatology are called rheumatologists. Rheumatologists treat arthritis, autoimmune diseases and osteoporosis.

An authority in his field, Dr. Bowers has been the recipient of the On-Time Doctor Award in 2016.
