Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Lloydine J. Jacobs, who serves patients in Paramus, New Jersey.

Specializing in minimally invasive interventions for back, neck, and joint pain, Dr. Jacobs is the Chief Executive Officer at NexGen Orthopedics in Paramus, New Jersey. She is known and loved by her patients for being a skilled orthopedic surgeon who is thorough, compassionate, and has excellent bedside manner. 

Her mission is to provide patients access to affordable premier minimally invasive treatment to improve quality of life. Having always known that she wanted to be a doctor, Dr. Jacob’s interest in medicine was inspired by her older brother. After nearly a decade of hard work and determination, her brother, Lloyd Jacobs II, earned his admission to Rutgers Medical School. About six weeks after receiving his acceptance letter, he went out to run errands when he sustained a gunshot injury to the head from a stray bullet.

Everyone, including his medical team, was certain that he would not survive. However, he underwent a surgical procedure that allowed his brain more room to swell, saving his life. From that moment onward, 5-year-old Lloydine resolved to become a surgeon so that she too could save lives, just like her brother’s. (And, Lloyd, with the support of a loving family and that same unwavering determination, went on to medical school and has been a practicing physician for over two decades now.)

Dr. Jacob’s academic excellence enabled her to graduate from high school at the age of only 15-years-old. Upon graduation, she immediately enrolled in the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, a 7-year B.S./MD program that would prepare her for her medical career.

After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science, she transferred to Albany Medical College, where she completed her last two years of medical education. She received her medical degree at only 22 years of age. She then took the United States Medical Licensing Examination and scored in the top 1% of the nation.

After demonstrating her mastery of physiology and pathology on the boards, Dr. Jacobs went on to complete her residency in orthopedic & spine surgery at the world-renowned University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She then supplemented her clinical experience by completing a fellowship at one of the best children’s hospitals in the world, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she received highly specialized training in pediatric orthopedics.

Passionate about her profession, she is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Instead of immediately returning to New York to practice after completing her fellowship, Dr. Jacobs decided to work in an underserved part of the country so that she could help those who did not have access to highly trained physicians. She practiced in Northeast Arkansas for about 2 years where she introduced minimally invasive spine surgery to the local hospital and pioneered the use of regenerative spine and joint injections to provide a better quality of life for her patients.

Once returning to New Jersey, Dr. Jacobs served as the chief surgeon of a multi-center facility and then went on to open her own practice, NEXGEN Orthopedics.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

Throughout her line of work, Dr. Jacobs has written extensively on various spine and orthopedic topics and has won numerous awards for the quality of her scientific work. She has published over 15 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious medical journals.
