Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Muhammed Uddin, who serves the Mesa, Arizona area at the Arizona Kidney Disease & Hypertension Centers and several local hospitals. Dr. Uddin graduated from the Sindh Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan with his medical degree in 1985. He continued his studies with a residency in internal medicine at the Long Island Jewish Hospital, then completed a fellowship in nephrology with the University of Kentucky. He has been board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both internal medicine and nephrology. He holds an Arizona state medical license through 2020. To further the field of nephrology, Dr. Uddin has conducted research and published his findings in prestigious medical journals, including the Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. Dr. Uddin specializes in the kidney, treating such ailments as hypertension (high blood pressure), kidney stones, and kidney failure. He is an expert in the field of dialysis. In addition to his practice with the Arizona Kidney Disease & Hypertension Centers, he is affiliated with several local hospitals, including Chandler Regional Medical Center and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. He is able to see a wide variety of patients throughout his practice and is dedicated to offering the highest possible level of care. Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys: the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy (dialysis and kidney transplantation). Nephrology also studies systemic conditions that affect the kidneys, such as diabetes and autoimmune disease; and systemic diseases that occur as a result of kidney disease, such as renal osteodystrophy and hypertension. Dr. Uddin has completed the CMS Meaningful Use Stage 1 Certification, which allows him to dedicate more of his valuable time to his patients. When he is not seeing patients, he enjoys spending time with friends and family members.
