Do you need radiation therapy after a lumpectomy?
Yes. You will need whole breast irradiation or accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) depending on how big your tumor is in the breast, grade, type of tumor, and any positive axillary nodes. If you have only a lumpectomy, the tumor will come back in the breast by more than 50%. READ MORE
Does radiotherapy make your bones ache?
No. Your bone pain is not related to your radiation treatment. Bone pain can be related to the cancer or related to medications you take for cancer. Let your oncologist know so he or she can do more investigation or explain to you what causes it. READ MORE
How long do you get radiotherapy for breast cancer?
In general, it will take 5-5/12 weeks to whole breast depending how big the breast followed by one week boost to tumor bed. The treatment will be every day Monday to Friday, not on weekend or holiday. For patient who will be treated with partial breast irradiation, it will be twice a day for 5 day or once a day for 10 days.
