Get to know Pediatrician Dr. T. Jann Carson-Sorey, who serves patients in Southfield, Michigan.

A seasoned pediatrician, Dr. Carson-Sorey serves as the Medical Director of Clinical Quality and Network Management in Senior Health Services at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. She provides clinical leadership for the population based complex case management program focusing on the most prevalent conditions like diabetes, heart failure, chronic lung conditions, asthma, and more. Her goal is to advance knowledge of these conditions and improve health outcomes by working collaboratively with physicians and integrating evidence-based medicine into clinical decision making.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Carson-Sorey earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the Winston Salem State University, and graduated with her medical degree from Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She completed her Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration and Management at Central Michigan University. Later, she completed her Master of Business Administration degree at Lawrence Technological University.

As a testament to her success, she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Recognized as a Fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Detroit Medical Academy, she is the Secretary of the Michigan State Medical Society, and is the Past President of the Wayne County Medical Society, Southeast Michigan, and the Detroit Medical Academy.

In her professional experience, Dr. Carson-Sorey remains active clinically with Henry Ford Health System and is a former Division Head of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, and a Founder of their School-Based and Community Health program.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.
