Recognized as a Fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Detroit Medical Academy, she is the Secretary of the Michigan State Medical Society, and is the Past President of the Wayne County Medical Society, Southeast Michigan, and the Detroit Medical Academy.

In her professional experience, Dr. Carson-Sorey remains active clinically with Henry Ford Health System and is a former Division Head of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, and a Founder of their School-Based and Community Health program.
