A skilled nephrologist, Dr. Sheta tends to patients at Houston Kidney Specialists in Houston, Texas. He specializes in minimally invasive surgical procedures, including Percutaneous Peritoneal dialysis catheter, and Percutaneous arteriovenous fistula creation.

Originally from Egypt, Dr. Sheta graduated with his medical degree from the University of Cairo School of Medicine in 2005. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at the Monmouth Medical Center in 2010, where he served as Chief Resident. Later, he completed his fellowship in nephrology at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in 2015.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in nephrology, Hypertension, Interventional Nephrology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Maintaining fellowship status, he is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN), and Fellow of the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology (FASDIN). He has also been the recipient of the prestigious Ellen Cosgrove MD Award for Excellence in Internal Medicine.

Focusing his practice on dialysis access and dialysis access research, he has been published over twenty times in both national and international medical journals, including the Journal of Vascular Access, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of Clinical Rheumatology. 

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine  that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care or kidney transplantation when it becomes necessary.
