Get to know Neurologist Dr. Thomas Berk, who serves patients in New York, New York.
Dr. Berk is a neurologist and headache specialist based in New York City. He is Medical Director at Neura Health, where he treats Neura patients via video visit, bringing access to high quality headache healthcare to everyone and everywhere.
“Every day I learn that despite how different everyone seems, we have more things in common than not. As a headache specialist, I review the specific triggers everyone has – the stressful things in their lives, their diets, their sleep patterns. Everyone’s background is unique, their family life is different, their stressors and issues change – but underneath it all we have the same insecurities, the same things that make us happy and the same struggles.”
Growing up in Chicago, Dr. Berk moved to New York City for medical school. He graduated from NYU Grossman School of Medicine in 2010 and also completed his residency in neurology at the said establishment. He then performed a headache fellowship at the Jefferson Headache Center in Philadelphia.
“First – the brain is amazing and mysterious – there is no segment of science that is better to study. As a neurology resident, I quickly saw how effective and life changing headache medicine can be. Many neurological diseases aren’t curable, and worsen over time despite our best efforts. Headache is very different, especially with so many new treatment options now available.”
Having been on the Super Doctors list of rising stars for the past five years, Dr. Berk is a former Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
A Fellow of the American Headache Society (FAHS), he is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
