Get to know Physiatrist Dr. Eric S. Lippman, who serves patients in New York.

Dr. Lippman is a New York-based physiatrist who is affiliated with St. John’s Episcopal Hospital-South Shore Division & Mount Sinai South Nassau. He helps patients to recuperate from injury or disease to enjoy a higher quality of life.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital is the only hospital providing emergency and ambulatory care to the densely populated, culturally and economically diverse, and medically underserved populations of the Rockaways and Five Towns in southern Queens County and southwestern Nassau County, New York. Celebrating over 110 years of community care, the 257-bed facility provides people of all faiths with comprehensive preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitative services, regardless of ability to pay.

The Long Island flagship hospital for the Mount Sinai Health System, Mount Sinai South Nassau is a 455-bed hospital located in Oceanside, New York. It is committed to providing quality, comprehensive and easily accessible health care services to all residents of the South Shore communities in a manner that reflects a culture of excellence; personalized, culturally competent care; and innovation.

A 1992 graduate of SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, Dr. Lippman went on to perform his internship at North Shore University Hospital. This was followed by a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Rusk Rehabilitation at NYU Langone Health.

With over three decades of experience, he is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, also known as physiatry and physiatrics, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. 

In honor of his clinical expertise, Dr. Lippman is the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2015).
