Get to know Hospitalist Dr. Kevin Trieu, who serves patients in Delaware. 

Dr. Trieu is a practicing hospitalist with ChristianaCare Hospitalist Partners, seeing patients in Newark (ChristianaCare Christiana Hospital) and Wilmington, Delaware. 

ChristianaCare Hospitalist Partners specializes in the care of hospitalized patients. These physicians serve patients at Christiana Hospital 24 hours a day. They work closely with one’s primary-care physician and offer a variety of resources from ChristianaCare to meet patients’ medical needs, overseeing all aspects of care throughout recovery.

Back in 2003, Dr. Trieu graduated with his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. Years later, in 2007, he went on to perform his residency at Stamford Hospital.

That same year, he attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In order to stay up to date in his field, Dr. Trieu remains an active member of the Society of Hospital Medicine.

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. The primary focus is caring for hospitalized patients and co-management with other specialties. Hospitalists take an active part in medical care and ensure a safe discharge for the patients they take care of. They are being increasingly involved in administrative roles, given their expertise and collaboration with various teams in the hospital.
