Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Susan S. Kais, who serves patients in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Dr. Kais is a highly respected and sought out gastroenterologist at Grand River Gastroenterology, PC in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Located in Mercy Health Saint Mary’s Campus and affiliated with Mercy Health, Grand River Gastroenterology, PC was established over 30 years ago. All of the physicians are University-trained and board-certified in gastroenterology. They pride themselves on providing the best medical care to all of their patients through their up to date facilities, cutting edge technologies, and full range of endoscopic techniques.

A graduate of the Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Kais performed her residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center. She then went on to complete her fellowship at Scripps Green Clinic & Hospital in La Jolla, California followed by her advanced fellowship with specialized training in inflammatory bowel disease at The University of Miami/The Crohn’s & Colitis Center in Miami, Florida.

A member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the doctor is board-certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.
