In the early days of his academic career, Dr. Rosenthal obtained his medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine in 1969. He then went on to perform his residency in general surgery at Abington Memorial Hospital, where he was chief resident of general surgery. He also served as a Major in the Medical Corps at the US Army Institute of Surgical Research, Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, where he received the Meritorious Service Medal.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the doctor is a member of the Texas Surgical Society, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the American Society of Breast Disease.
With an unwavering commitment to his speciality, Dr. Rosenthal is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
