Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Robert L. Burke, who serves patients in Texas.

As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Burke specializes in general orthopedic care, total and partial knee replacement, attune knee replacement, joint replacement, shoulder surgery, robotic surgery, stem cell therapy, and sports medicine. He is the Founder of Dr. Burke Orthopedics with offices in Pearland and Houston, Texas.

From sports injuries to total joint replacement, Dr. Burke provides his patients with personalized orthopedic and rehabilitation care, thereby allowing them to quickly return to their everyday activities and sports activities. His knowledge and expertise deliver comprehensive orthopedic service with modern technology that focuses on patients’ well-being and allows them to take the first step toward an active, pain-free lifestyle. 

Recognized for his outstanding reputation as a leader in the orthopedic field, the doctor is affiliated with Fondren Orthopedic Group L.L.P. in Pearland and Texas Orthopedic Hospital in Houston. He has also been serving as a Clinical Preceptor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston since 1998. 

Following his undergraduate education at the University of Virginia in 1983, Dr. Burke went on to complete medical school at the same educational venue in 1987. Years later, in 1992, he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio.

Before long, he became board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, which is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. He also earned a certificate in orthopedic sports medicine. 

With his years of experience and impressive expertise, Dr. Burke has written multiple publications and abstracts and gives several presentations about orthopedic medicine. In order to stay up to date in his field, he remains a member of several professional organizations, including the Alamo Orthopedic Society, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Texas Orthopedic Association, the Texas Society of Sports Medicine,  and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. They work in clinical and hospital settings.
