Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Ahmed A. Rahman, who serves patients in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Dr. Rahman is a board-certified general surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is a part of the team of professionals at Chesapeake Regional Surgical Specialists in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Back in 1970, Dr. Rahman graduated with his medical degree from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram in India. After relocating to the United States, he performed his residencies in general surgery with the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals and Eastern Virginia Medical School.

With over five decades of experience, the doctor is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland.
