Get to know Psychologist Dr. Carol F. Vinson, who serves the population of Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Vinson completed her undergraduate degree from Barnard College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. Beginning graduate degree she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education from Columbia University, followed by her Master of Science in Psychology from Long Island University. Furthering her education she then graduated with her PhD from St John’s University in 1980, giving her over three decades of experience in her field. After obtaining her PhD she completed her Postgraduate training within the Center for Mental Health. Dr. Vinson holds additional certification in Psychodynamics Psychology. To stay up to date in her field, she remains a professional member of the American Psychological Association and the New York State Psychological Association. Dr. Vinson currently practices with her private practice and holds an expertise in depression and anxiety, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic interventions. Psychodynamics, also known as psychodynamic psychology, in its broadest sense, is an approach to psychology that emphasizes systematic study of the psychological forces that underlie human behavior, feelings, and emotions and how they might relate to early experience. It is especially interested in the dynamic relations between conscious motivation and unconscious motivation.
