What is the procedure for applying braces?
Placing on braces is an easy process. We use special glue to attach each individual bracket to the separate tooth. Some doctors use special trays where several brackets can be attached at the same time. Most practices will apply your lower and upper braces at the same appointment. Some practitioners will do just one arch at the time depending on preference and severity of the case. At the end of an appointment, wire is attached to the brackets. To hold wire engaged in the bracket, we use a different color of elastomerics. Some brackets have a special gate to hold the wire. Your wire will need to be changed every 4-8 weeks while brackets stay till the end of the treatment. Monika Tyszkowski, DDS READ MORE
