He then went on to perform his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in nephrology at VCU Medical Center in 1992 and 1994, respectively.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine and nephrology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
