A board-certified pathologist, Dr. Lopez is affiliated with The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. She specializes in blood banking, transfusion medicine, and transplantation immunology.
Founded in 1859 by Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV, The Queen’s Medical Center, originally named and still commonly referred to as Queen’s Hospital, is located in downtown Honolulu. With 575 acute care beds, it’s the largest private, nonprofit hospital in the city. As one of their four hospitals, it serves as the major referral center for cancer, heart disease, neuroscience, orthopedics, surgery, emergency medicine and behavioral health. It has the only organ transplant program in the state of Hawaii and is the state’s first and only level one trauma center.
A native of Spain, Dr. Lopez earned her medical degree from the Universidad Rovira I Virgili. Upon relocating to the United States, she completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Hawaii in 2006, and her fellowship in transfusion medicine at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2007.
Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in anatomic & clinical pathology and blood banking/transfusion medicine through the American Board of Pathology (ABPath). The mission of the ABPath is to promote the health of the public and advance the practice and science of pathology by establishing voluntary certification standards and assessing the qualifications of those seeking to practice the specialty of pathology.
