Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. Aida P. Capo, who serves patients in New Jersey.

Dr. Capo is a board-certified pulmonologist and a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. She is currently serving patients at Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center – a 202-bed hospital located in North Bergen, New Jersey. The non-profit medical center is part of the Hackensack Meridian Health Network. It is also ranked as one of the top hospitals of its size in New Jersey by Inside Jersey Magazine and Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.

In addition to providing her services at Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center, Dr. Capo is affiliated with Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, New Jersey. Holy Name Medical Center is a fully accredited, not-for-profit healthcare facility. 

Upon earning her medical degree from Eastern Central University in the Dominican Republic, Dr. Capo relocated to the United States. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s – West Hospital Center, followed by her fellowship in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine at New York Medical College.

Shortly after, she earned board certification in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is certified to treat a variety of respiratory conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, sleep apnea, emphysema, and tuberculosis. They can draw on a number of therapies to treat these diseases, including antibiotics, steroids, and other medications.
