Get to know Otolaryngologist Dr. Tracey W. Childers, who serves patients in Ottawa, Illinois.

A dedicated otolaryngologist, Dr. Childers, brings a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for patient care to OSF HealthCare. Growing up in the Dallas/Fort Worth region of Texas, her journey in medicine has been marked by a commitment to serving communities and a deep appreciation for the intricacies of ear, nose, and throat (ENT) care.

With nearly two decades of practice in a rural community east of Tulsa, Oklahoma, she has established herself as a dedicated healthcare professional with a unique blend of expertise and empathy. Her journey in medicine was fueled by a natural inclination toward science and a heartfelt desire to help others. During medical school, she discovered her true calling in ENT, a field that captivated her with its diversity and the opportunity to treat patients of all ages.

Back in the early days of her academic career, Dr. Childers’ specialties included Otolaryngic Allergy and Ear, Nose, and Throat care. Her educational journey includes medical education at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in 1994, an internship at Oklahoma State University Medical Center in 1995, and a residency in ENT-Otolaryngology at the same institution in 1999. Dr. Childers further enhanced her expertise through a fellowship in Otolaryngic Allergy at Oklahoma State University Medical Center in 2011.

As a testament to her continued education, the doctor is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, which is a non-profit corporation that has set the mission of ensuring professional standards with certificates and memberships and has offered training in the fields of head neck surgery to professionals since 1924.

Among her professional affiliations, she holds memberships in prestigious organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Pediatric otolaryngologists are primarily concerned with medical and surgical treatment of ear, nose, and throat diseases in children. They generally provide the following services: diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, and throat disorders, as well as head and neck diseases.

On a more personal note, Dr. Childers is a proud mother of two daughters. Together, they share a love for photography, art, travel, and singing. She has also been an active participant in community theater productions for several years.
