  • How can I heal my mouth?

I have a few suggestions if this is still bothering you. First, chew and then spit out some bread or baked potato. The starch in those foods may disperse the iodine taste. Something else that you can try is rinsing your mouth out with activated charcoal. Definitely rinse your mouth with warm salt water, (1/4 teaspoon salt in 1 cup warm water,) at least every two hours. That will sooth any injured tissues. READ MORE

  • How do you brush after getting crowns?

It's very important to clean your crowns as you would your other teeth. Brush and floss them twice a day, making sure to clean well around the gumline. Don't scrub, but angle your toothbrush and clean with circular massaging motions. READ MORE

  • Does wearing Invisalign hurt?

Clear aligners straighten your teeth and for your teeth to move, they need little pushes to move to a different place in the jawbone. When you straighten your teeth with aligners, it is a series of clear trays that you trade out when they are loose. They loosen because your teeth move to a new position. These movements can make your jaw sore. This feeling goes away in a day or two. Acetaminophen or ibuprofen can minimize the soreness. The end result is certainly worth it! READ MORE

  • How long after a bone graft can you get an implant?

The usual wait time after a bone graft before placing an implant is 3 months. The bone will need time to heal and integrate. READ MORE

  • What is good for sore gums from dentures?

Go see your dentist for an adjustment of your dentures. Chances are that sore spot will not go away by itself, unless the denture is adjusted. Until you can see your dentist, rinse with warm salt water every 2 hours to sooth the sore. READ MORE

  • Are clear braces better than Invisalign?

Use clear orthodontic braces versus Invisalign will depend on the diagnosis and treatment of your malocclusion, (or crookedness of your teeth,). Clear aligners, (Invisalign,) can be used for many patients, but is unable to correct some issues. Clear braces may be needed to correct a more severe problem. Check with your dentist for what treatment would work best for you. READ MORE

  • Do your teeth move back after Invisalign?

Yes, your teeth will move your entire life. You can be any age to use clear aligners to move your teeth. So, it is very important to wear your retainers after any orthodontic treatment to keep your teeth where they were placed. You can think of your teeth in your jaws like rubber bands. If you stretch them out, they will return to their original shape when released, unless a retainer is there to hold them in place. READ MORE

  • Do they put you to sleep for oral cyst surgery?

That depends on your preference. If you go to a dentist or Oral Surgeon certified in dental sedation, you certainly can request IV sedation to remove a cyst. Depending on the location and size of the cyst, the dentist will let you know your options for sedation. READ MORE

  • Do dental crowns change color over time?

No, it is not. It may be staining due to some food that you are eating or drinking such as coffee, apple juice, or soda. Check with your primary care dentist to discover the source of the discoloration. READ MORE
