Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Daniela Capriles, who serves patients in Concord, Massachusetts.

Recognized as a caring and thorough cardiologist, Dr. Capriles works at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts. Her clinical interests include heart failure, cholesterol management, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, weight loss, and peripheral vascular disease.

Founded in 1911, Emerson Hospital is a full-service, 179-bed hospital with more than 300 primary care doctors and specialists who care for everything from arrhythmias to wound care. The hospital provides advanced medical services to more than 300,000 people in 25 towns. Her journey into medicine began after she obtained her medical degree from the Central University of Venezuela Razetti School of Medicine in 2003. Upon graduation, she relocated to the United States where she performed a pre-internship in cardiology at Jackson Memorial, then an internship in Internal medicine at Geisinger Medical Center. From there, she went on to complete her residency in internal medicine at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in cardiology at Saint Vincent Hospital. 

With a commitment to excellence in heart health, Dr. Capriles is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Professional organizations of which she is a member of include the following: the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, the American College of Cardiology (Fellow – FACC), and the Massachusetts Medical Society.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

When asked what advice she would give to a patient looking to find a provider in her speciality, Dr. Capriles answered, “Looking for a cardiologist is like looking for a long term relationship; there has to be trust and confidence that decisions made are for the patient’s best interest.”
