Dr. Smith is an internationally recognized, certified cosmetic physician and soft tissue specialist, with training in laser technology, with over a decade of experience.
At her full-service cosmetic treatment center, Sapphire Advanced Aesthetics, located in Minnesota, Dr. Smith offers a wide range of minimally invasive treatments and procedures. Her training, experience, and caring approach are what set her apart from other cosmetic doctors in the area.
Additionally, Dr. Smith runs her podcast "beauty on the brain", downloadable on Apple and Spotify. Her podcast focuses on the beauty and health of all ages, tips for body contouring, and aging through a person’s 20s, 30s, 40s, and beyond. On “beauty on the brain” Dr. Smith is currently covering the topic of liposuction, including what it is, the risks and benefits, who may be a good candidate, and maximizing your results after the liposuction. This is the first topic of many she will cover in regards to beauty treatment and health.
A Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Long Island. She completed her surgical residency at Michigan State Bi-County Community Hospital.
In addition to being a Major in the United States Army Medical Corps, she served as a surgeon at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and at Evans Community Hospital at Fort Carson, Colorado. She was also the Assistant Director of the Level 1 Trauma Burn Center at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minnesota, where she worked on many high profile burn cases. Moreover, she held the position of Director of Wound Care at Mayo Health Systems in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
Active in clinical research, Dr. Smith published a paper on specialty bio-engineered dressings to accelerate wound healing in a peer-reviewed medical journal in 2009. She was a lecturer and instructor in burns and trauma at the Royal College of Surgeons in London, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, as well as during her medical mission work in Central America. She was also recognized and awarded a Fellowship Award by the American Burn Association.
