Get to know Hand Surgeon Dr. Khader Muqtadir, who serves patients in Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Muqtadir is a renowned hand surgeon with the Tampa Bay Hand Center in Tampa, Florida.  His interests in hand surgery include arthroscopy of the wrist and small joints of the hand, as well as vascularized bone grafting for scaphoid non-union.

Founded in 1989, the Tampa Bay Hand Center provides highly specialized, comprehensive care for patients with injuries and disorders of the hand and wrist. The Center is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for diagnosis, surgery, and rehabilitation of hand problems.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in New York in 1999. He then went on to complete his residency in general surgery at the same educational venue, where he was the recipient of the Theodore Jewett M.D. Gold Star Resident of the Year Award in 2003. Finally, he performed a fellowship in hand and microsurgery within the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. 

Following his education, he became board-certified in surgery of the hand by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Hand surgery is surgery of the hand, the wrist, and the peripheral nerves of the upper limb. It also encompasses reconstructive surgery that improves upper limb function. Many disorders and injuries of the hand are treated without surgery, using splints, taping, injections, and hand physiotherapy. Hand surgeons care for these problems with and without surgery. They are specially trained to operate when necessary. Many hand surgeons are also experts in diagnosing and caring for shoulder and elbow problems.

Among his numerous accolades, Dr. Muqtadir is the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2012, 2013, 2015), On-Time Doctor Award (2014, 2015), and Patients’ Choice Award (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015).
