Get to know Family Physician Dr. Vielka M. Cintron Rivera, who serves patients in Manatí, Puerto Rico. 

Dr. Rivera is a trusted family physician who works within the Department of Family Medicine at Manatí Medical Center in Puerto Rico.

Manatí Medical Center opened its doors to the community in 1984 with the name of Hospital Dr. Alejandro Otero López. Today, the hospital has 235 beds, the best technology, a great diversity of services, and an excellent medical faculty made up of prestigious medical specialists and subspecialists. The mission of Manatí Medical Center is to maintain the forefront in medical-hospital services with education, technology, knowledge, optimal resources, and the best work culture.

A 1998 graduate of Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Dr. Rivera performed her internship at Hospital Buen Samaritano in 2000. This was followed by a residency in family medicine at Manatí Medical Center in 2004.

With over two decades of experience in her field, she is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP).

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.
