Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Jimena Rivas, who serves patients throughout the State of New Jersey.

Dr. Rivas is a compassionate, board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist at Advanced Obstetrics & Gynecology, LLC. She takes special interests in general obstetrics, high-risk obstetrics, menopause management, abnormal uterine bleeding, sexual dysfunction, and contraception.

Advanced Obstetrics & Gynecology, LLC is a dedicated women’s health care practice, with locations in Lebanon, Branchburg, and two offices in Flemington, New Jersey. The experienced team of board-certified obstetricians and gynecologists helps women through each stage of life with ongoing comprehensive health and wellness management. They use modern technology and well-researched techniques to provide a high level of care to women of all ages and backgrounds.

A core value at Advanced Obstetrics & Gynecology, LLC is connecting to patients with professionalism, compassion, and respect. The team is dedicated to providing accurate diagnoses for women as well as the focused, individualized care they need.

For her medical education, Dr. Rivas attended Universidad de Caldas in Manizales, Colombia. She stayed there for a residency at Rita Arango Alvarez del Pino Medical Center before moving to the United States for further residency training at Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center. She was named chief resident at Morristown Medical Center, earned a clinical excellence award in obstetrics, and received the Finn and Kim Wentworth Award for Resident of the Year. 

Since much of Dr. Rivas’s training was at a level III maternity center, she is highly skilled in managing healthy and high-risk pregnancies. 

Today, she is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which is the premier professional membership organization for obstetricians–gynecologists. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics and gynecology. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.

Outside of her work, Dr. Rivas enjoys caring for her beloved three small children and spends lots of time with them outdoors. She also enjoys crafting, cooking, and dancing in her free time. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.
