Get to know Neurosurgeon Dr. Kerry R. Crone, who serves patients in Cincinnati, Ohio.

A seasoned neurosurgeon, Dr. Crone is a Professor of Neurosurgery and Residency Associate Program Director at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and is an attending physician at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute, and the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center. He has specialized in minimal access surgery, including endoscopic surgery, chiari malformations, brain tumors, design and implementation of patient safety initiatives, and clinical outcomes studies.

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Crone completed his undergraduate and medical education at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in neurosurgery at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital, followed by a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, whose broad aim is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards, and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system. Neurosurgeons are doctors who diagnose and treat problems with the nervous system, often by performing surgery on the brain or spine. They treat strokes, tumors, certain types of birth defects, infections, and head or spinal cord injuries.

Among his various accolades, Dr. Crone has been the recipient of the On-Time Doctor Award (2009), and Patients’ Choice Award (2008).
