  • Should I do something with my neck cyst?

If what you call a cyst is within the appendages of the skin or under the skin, a simple excision under local anesthesia is all you need. If it is deeper in the neck or in the thyroid gland, an imaging study with ultrasound will define it well. Aspiration of the content can then be done guided with ultrasound. Analysis will be done and that is the end of it if it is benign. READ MORE

  • What side effects should I look out for after son's appendectomy?

Appendicitis is a focal infection and the accepted treatment is to remove the appendix (Appendectomy). This procedure presently is done with less invasion of the abdomen (Laparoscopy). Most common complication is wound infection or an abscess. That usually occurs a few days after surgery. The hallmark is fever. There is no long-term side effect after a properly done appendectomy. • Painless lump on my thigh. Should I get it removed?

It would be wise to have it removed for analysis. It can be from the skin layers (nevus) or from the skin appendages (cyst). In any case, if the color is not the same as your skin, it is abnormal. READ MORE
