Dr. Robert St. Amant, MD
Family Practitioner
2647 S St Elizabeth Blvd Suite 311 Gonzales LA, 70737About
Dr. Robert St. Amant is a Clinical Lipidologist practicing in Gonzales, LA. His current main specialty is Lipidology. After 33 years in family medicine, Dr. St. Amant specialized in Lipidology, the comprehensive evaluation of cholesterol, triglycerides, and lipoproteins that contribute to cholesterol build-up in the arteries. This process is known as atherosclerosis and is the major risk factor for heart disease which is the leading cause of death in both men and women in the U.S. For over a decade now, he has exclusively practiced Clinical Lipidology. A thorough search for all of the contributing risk factors includes the patient's detailed history, a physical examination, and advanced lipid blood testing. This approach leads to many cardiometabolic targets beyond the standard lipid panel which are amenable to lifestyle therapy and appropriate lipid-modifying medications. He also specializes in treating the statin intolerant patient. In addition to diagnosing and treating atherosclerotic disease, he strongly emphasizes preventative care long before the damage occurs. Dr. St. Amant sees adults as well as children 8 years and older for their lipid problems. His office accepts most insurances.
