Having been practicing dentistry for over 35 years, Dr. Chu is a highly-trained and experienced periodontist who tends to patients’ dental needs at Chu & Yang Dental with offices in Irvine and Orange, California.
He works alongside Dr. Josephine Yang, DDS, dedicated to staying on top of the latest diagnostic tools and treatments and delivering the highest quality of dental care that serves as the foundation for a healthy smile. It is their goal to give their patients healthy smiles of which they can be proud of.
After graduating from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Dentistry in 1982, Dr. Chu continued his specialty training at USC for an additional two years to become a periodontist. He then served as a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Periodontology at USC and as an Assistant Professor at Loma Linda, where he taught at the graduate and postgraduate levels.
Through continuing education courses to stay current with the latest techniques, Dr. Chu offers patients the latest in bone grafts and dental implant procedures. This has helped many of his patients restore their smile and function to levels that were not possible with their traditional dentures. Due to his gentle and compassionate touch, many of his patients travel hundreds of miles to be treated by him.
Periodontology is the specialty of dentistry that studies supporting structures of teeth, as well as diseases and conditions that affect them. A periodontist specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants. They are familiar with the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease and are trained in cosmetic periodontal procedures and grafting procedures to rebuild lost bone and gum tissue.
Outside of the office, Dr. Chu’s hobbies include cooking, stamp collecting, gardening, and being an avid lover of orchids.
