  • Pain numbness weakness

Your complaints of focal weakness are not part of the Graves' disease. I recommend that you see a neurologist to be sure the is no neurologic disease causing these symptoms. READ MORE

  • kyste thyroidin

Thyroid cysts Fluid filled nodules) are fairly common and rarely need to be removed surgically. I have treated these with a needle into the cyst which may sound barbaric but is not very painful and can remove the fluid and usually decreases the symptoms and size of the cyst. READ MORE

  • Blacking out

The cause of your mental status change is not related to the glucose levels. Having a low glucose reaction days ago should not cause the episode you described. One possibility is the glucose may have been low at the time of the episode and your body corrected the glucose level on its own and so when it was checked the level was fine. If you have not already done so; I recommend that you look into a continuous glucose sensor. READ MORE

  • Worried about type 2 diabetes

There is no reason for having an oral glucose tolerance test to diagnose diabetes. The Fasting glucose is fine and the A1c is normal so there would be no reason to treat diabetes even if the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) is abnormal. READ MORE

  • TSH level 11.4

It is fairly common to have a normal T4 and T3 with an elevated TSH. Generally I increase the thyroid hormone dose every 2 months until the TSH is between 0.5 and 3 for an otherwise healthy young adult. The elevated TSH suggests the pituitary is sensing the body needs more thyroid replacement READ MORE

  • I need medical assistance?

The enlarged lymph nodes do need to be evaluated and I would start with a primary care doctor. I am an endocrinologist and do not take care of lymph nodes (sometimes called lymph glands but these are not endocrine organs). There are several imaging studies available to better define the abnormality and a primary care doctor can expedite the diagnostic plan. READ MORE

  • What should I do?

You should purchase a glucose meter (Walmart brand is more affordable than most) and if less than 140 before breakfast stick with a low carbohydrate diet and cut out processed meats and grains. READ MORE

  • Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes?

You have a very controllable condition and much of the control is based on lifestyle. There are medications to help control insulin resistance to help control Type 2 diabetes. Metformin is the most used starting medication as it has a long safety record and is effective. No medications work without decreasing carbohydrates from grains and sugars and increasing exercise. READ MORE

  • Diabetes management?

Toujeo is used to control fasting glucose. If you are not taking this at night you should try this. You must decrease the carbohydrates, especially the grains. Increasing the Toujeo would lower the glucose in the morning but will cause more weight gain. If you have not taken metformin this would help. READ MORE

  • Diabetic finger stick?

The majority of glucometers are designed to use the finger not the heel of the hand. The type of lancing devices used in the hospital are only approved for the fingers and using the heel of the hand often does not supply an adequate drop of blood as these meters need more blood than those designed for home use. READ MORE

  • Should I be worried about unintentional weight loss?

If your glucose control is OK and you are eating well; you should not be losing weight. If you are urinating more then the glucose control may not be as good as you expect. This needs to be checked (a home urine glucose test should answer this). If the glucose control is good then consider a thyroid condition as hyperthyroidism is more common with type 1 diabetes and can cause weight loss with increased food READ MORE

  • Do I have diabetes?

A glucose of 133 after eating 4h ago is not diagnostic of diabetes. I suggest you have fasting glucose done on two occasions. Zyprexa can elevate glucose levels and you should adhere to a "low glycemic index" diet which can be found on any search engine. READ MORE

  • Borderline diabetic?

The glucose levels are fine if staying around 130. The white spots are not related to diabetes but may be a lipid abnormality and this needs to be worked out. You should have a blood tests. READ MORE

  • Diabetic question?

Because Metformin treats insulin resistance as well as diabetes; I usually increase the dose to 1000mg twice daily if this is tolerated. There is no risk of hypoglycemia with this medication alone and it generally improves other conditions associated with diabetes that are not caused by high glucose levels such as heart attacks and strokes. I do not feel that you need different medications now; however, I usually check an insulin level in the blood, and if this level is less than 20 no additional medications are needed. Continue a healthy lifestyle and an A1c level of 6.2% is great! READ MORE

  • Does acupuncture help with high blood sugar?

  • Prednisone and high blood sugar?

Prednisone can increase glucose levels but the complaints you have do not seem to be related to the blood glucose level. It is always a good idea to not eat sugar; however, I do not believe the symptoms are related to glucose. It may be related to Prednisone itself as this medication has many different effects on different people. READ MORE
