Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Neville Fernandes, who serves patients in Spokane, Washington.

Dr. Fernandes is a board-certified anesthesiologist, who has been in practice with Anesthesia Associates in Spokane, Washington since 2010. 

The physicians and nurses of Anesthesia Associates strive to be the premier anesthesia group in the region, and so they endeavor to treat their patients, surgeons, hospital staff, administration, and each other as they would wish to be treated. In furtherance of that goal, they strive to maintain a financially stable and independent practice that balances professionalism, family, and recreation in order to preserve and promote the health and wellness of all patients. 

After earning his undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s University in 1995, Dr. Fernandes went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2000. He then proceeded to complete his internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, followed by his residency in anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Following his education, he became board-certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Their mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure and temperature, anesthesiologists also measure the patient’s respiration
