Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Robert Meehan Jr., who serves patients in Michigan.

Dr. Meehan Jr. is a talented orthopedic surgeon in practice with Dearborn Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, P.C. & Livonia Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, P.C. in Michigan. He is committed to excellence by pledging to provide the highest quality of orthopaedic care possible.

Specializing in the treatment of a variety of orthopedic foot and ankle conditions, he also performs several orthopedic procedures including: arthritis management of the foot and ankle, sports injuries, trauma, forefoot reconstruction, fusions, arch conditions, foot/ankle deformity correction, paralytic conditions/drop foot deformity, congenital foot/ankle correction, charcot foot/ankle treatment, and other foot/ankle treatments. 

Professionally, Dr. Meehan Jr. is affiliated with several hospitals in his local area, including Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn; St. Mary Mercy Livonia Hospital; Detroit Receiving Hospital; DMC Heart Hospital; and Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1997. Upon graduation, he went on to perform his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the Detroit Medical Center. This was followed by a foot and ankle fellowship within the Department of Orthopedics at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine in 2003. 

Having been practicing medicine for over two decades, Dr. Meehan Jr. is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Excelling in his efforts, he remains an active member of several professional organizations. These include: the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Michigan Orthopedic Society, the Mid-America Orthopedic Association, and the Association of Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

With an unwavering commitment to his speciality, Dr. Meehan Jr. has been the recipient of several awards and honors throughout his career.
