Born in Brigham and raised in Perry, Utah, Dr. Wagstaff attended Perry Elementary and Box Elder Jr. High School before completing his undergraduate education at Utah State University (USU) as a music major in piano performance. Upon completing his undergraduate prerequisites at USU, he attended Northwestern University Dental School, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2000.
After graduating from Northwestern, he lived in the western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, for over 13 years where he owned and operated a private dental practice. He moved to Ogden Valley in the spring of 2014 and has taken ownership of Zimbi Dental.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
On a more personal note, Dr. Wagstaff was married for 15 years to his high school sweetheart, Shawna Nelson, with whom he had three children before she passed away from cancer in 2010. In 2013, he married his lovely wife, Maria Santana in the Brigham City Temple. They now have a total of seven children. He served an LDS mission in Argentina, is fluent in Spanish, is an accomplished pianist, and enjoys woodworking, photography, model railroading, fly fishing, camping, backpacking, canoeing, skiing and playing the bassoon, among other hobbies. His most recent woodworking project was building a wood strip canoe, which he now enjoys using on Pineview Reservoir.
