Get to know Plastic Surgeon Dr. David J. Pincus, who serves patients in Smithtown, New York.

Dr. Pincus is an award-winning and board-certified plastic surgeon trained in Miami, Paris, and Boston. He is the Owner & Operator of Pincus Plastic Surgery, specializing in plastic and reconstructive procedures for the face, breasts, and body for both men and women.

As a seasoned expert, Dr. Pincus is trained in all types of cosmetic procedures including breast augmentations, tummy tucks, liposuction, Brazilian butt lifts, and other body contouring surgeries. He also specializes in breast implant revision surgery for women who aren’t satisfied with the results of their past breast augmentation performed by other surgeons. He is especially known for his skill in performing high-quality breast reduction and breast augmentation procedures.

Bringing innovation and tradition to his practice with compassionate patient care, he also holds privileges at St. Catherines of Sienna, Plainview Hospital, and North Shore/Long Island Jewish.

Beginning his studies in Florida, Dr. Pincus earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, and continued his education at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. After graduating medical school in 2005, he served his residency in general surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was then recruited by the chairman of the medical school’s plastic surgery department to become a research fellow. 

Continuing his training, Dr. Pincus completed his residency in plastic surgery based at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts (including training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, Maine Medical Center, and Emerson Hospital). He conducted advanced research during his surgical residency, studying wound healing in specialized cases and other topics such as hair restoration. He also assisted in a research project in Boca Raton, Florida investigating the use of Conus venom as a possible pharmaceutical compound.

Specializing in enhancement of the appearance, the doctor is board-certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Dr. Pincus is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Medical Student Association (Phi Kappa Phi), the Golden Key National Honor Society, and the Premedical Honor Society.

Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It can be divided into two main categories – reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reparative and reconstructive techniques to get the job done.

During a wide-reaching education, Dr. Pincus has co-authored several published research papers and book chapters on an array of medical subjects. His knowledge and expertise in plastic surgery has positioned him as one of the leading plastic surgeons on Long Island.

Among his presentations include: South Florida Chapter of the ACS meeting, Effect of Estrogen on Wound Healing and Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Diabetic Mice; Zeppa Resident Research Award Grand Rounds, Miami, Florida; South Florida Chapter of the ACS meeting, The Effect of Topical 17b-Estradiol Treatment on Diabetic Wounds in OB/OB Mice; and 55th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Florida Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.

Bringing years of focused experience, diverse training and medical expertise, Dr. Pincus was named Top Beauty Doctor for 2018-2019 by New Beauty & 10 Best Plastic Surgeons for 2018 by the American Institute of Plastic Surgeons. His other various awards and honors include: American College of Surgeons, Resident Paper Competition (Top 3); American College of Surgeons South FL Chapter, Poster Competition (1st Place); Medical Scholars Program; Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society; Golden Key National Honor Society; National Outstanding Sophomore Recognition Award, Golden Key National Honor Society. 

He feels that his success is in large part due to his philosophy, which is to empower his patients. His success is also shared with his team. They care about the whole person. They want patients to have a great experience from the first to the last person they meet at their practice. They spend the time with patients to understand their goals and their needs. They design a treatment plan that will make them feel empowered.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Pincus loves to create, whether it be in the OR or building his home and practice. He loves to collect cars and motorcycles. He also enjoys boating, going to sporting events, and spending time with his boys. His favorite place to vacation is Boca Raton.
