Get to know Psychologist Dr. Pauline Amos Clansy, who serves the Houston, TX area at her private practice. Dr. Clansy earned her doctorate in psychology from Ball State University. She completed an internship at Michael E. DeBakey Veteran Affairs Hospital and a residency at Houston Independent School District. She also obtained her master’s degree from Boston University and holds a bachelor’s degree from Monmouth University. Dr. Clansy has worked in Texas for over two decades and has practiced psychology throughout the United States and other countries. Prior to opening her own private practice, Dr. Clansy served as the manager of psychological services department at Houston Independent School District for twenty years. She also worked as a clinical supervisor at Germany Community Drug Alcohol Center and as a education services officer at the department of defense in Darmstadt, Germany. Dr. Clansy specializes in the treatment of health mental problems, and helps people to cope with their mental illnesses. Dr. Clansy has a vast amount of experience in the field of psychology and usually evaluates and treats patients through a variety of methods, most typically being psychotherapy or talk therapy. She believes in listening to each patient and creating a partnership to maintain and improve lifelong health. As a psychologist, she aims to treat each individual’s problems with a unique approach, according to the life each patient has lived. This way, Dr. Clansy can reach a variety of patients through her practice. Psychology is the science of behavior and mind, including conscious and unconscious phenomena, as well as feeling and thought. It is an academic discipline of immense scope and diverse interests that, when taken together, seek an understanding of the emergent properties of brains, and all the variety of epiphenomena they manifest. As a social science it aims to understand individuals and groups by establishing general principles and researching specific cases. Patients usually visit Dr. Clansy because they have been experiencing depression, anxiety, stress or anger for a significant period of time and must seek help. To stay current in her field, she maintains professional memberships in the American Psychological Association, the Texas Psychological Association, and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
