Academically, Dr. Paone graduated with his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in 1977. Upon graduation, he went on to perform his residency in internal medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

In addition, he served on the faculty of the University of Missouri School of Medicine where he taught as an Associate Clinical Professor.
