  • How should I prepare for a PAP smear?

Please come into the office, not on your menstrual cycle. Make sure you don't put anything ( lubes or medicine) in the vagina for 48 hrs before. Relax. A Pap smear is a great way to screen for cervical cancer and it does not hurt. READ MORE

  • Not getting periods after ipill?

You should take and over the counter pregnancy test if you are worried. Sometimes periods are irregular and this can be stressful. I think you should see a Gyn and use additional birth control: pill or IUD. READ MORE

  • Birth control?

If the cycles are irregular due to PCOS then being on a pill will help with the acne and of course make the cycle regular. If you are sexually active this is a good idea. READ MORE

  • What could I have?

Most women have a natural discharge which does not have an odor, is generally not itchy. Sometimes it can look yellow on the underwear. If you want to see if is coming from the vagina or bladder, place a tampon in the vagina. Urine leakage will smell like urine. If your problem continues you should schedule to see a health care provider. READ MORE

  • Am I pregnant?

You should take a home pregnancy test if you have had unprotected sexual activity. READ MORE

  • Birth control?

4 hours late on the pill should not affect its ability to cover you for birth control. If you miss one day you should double up on the next. READ MORE

  • Menstruation troubles?

Cycles can be irregular. It depends on whether you are on a pill, IUD or if this is your natural cycle. If the cycle is missed and you are sexually active you should take a home pregnancy test. READ MORE

  • Does the pap smear break my hymen?

Generally you do not need a pap until you are sexually active. A gentle speculum exam can be done without breaking the hymen. I don't think you should worry. READ MORE

  • A woman's personal health question?

38 is still very young. The vagina naturally elongates with arousal and they do sell vaginal dilators which you can use. READ MORE

Dr. Leslie Kardos: experienced OB/GYN. I've been seeing Dr. Kardos for over 10 years. She is professional and efficient, and seems to stay educated about new technologies within her field. She performed my hysterectomy about 8 years ago and did the procedure laparoscopically in order to minimize scarring. She has become my primary physician. It has been a good experience for me, and I'm glad that I was able to continue to see her even when my insurance plans/carrier changed.
