“I am a dedicated and candid doctor who will try my best to treat your diseases. I’ll explain the underlying process and get to know you as a person. I am passionate about patient education, and strongly believe that the appropriate treatment of medical diseases is achieved through actively listening to patients’ concerns. While it is my job to treat a patient medically, I feel it is equally important to help them understand what is happening in their body” expressed the doctor.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Calvin received her medical degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 2013. She then went on to complete her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in pulmonary disease at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in 2016 and 2019, respectively.
Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease and critical care medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is an internal medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and diseases that affect the lungs, bronchial tubes, and the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, and throat.
Among her various accolades, Dr. Calvin has been the recipient of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Outstanding Achievement Award (2019), Angela and Anne V. Marinelli Endowed Fellowship Award for Exceptional Achievement and Promise in Clinical Practice (2019), Silver Fellow Award (2019), Bek Afessa Award for Excellence in Quality Improvement (2018), Internal Medicine Attitude, Commitment, and Excellence Award (2015, 2016), Above and Beyond Star Award (2014), Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Environmental Medicine Student of the Year Award (2013).
On a more personal note, she enjoys spending her spare time with her family and friends, either on the lake, at the cabin or exploring a new locale. She also enjoys reading, scuba diving and pretending to be artistic. Even though she lives in Minnesota, her heart for sports teams is always in Kansas City.
